Chiang Mai University Announcement
  Title : Graduate Education Admission
  1 Semester, Academic Year 2010

Chiang Mai University announces the graduate education admission of the first semester, academic year 2010. The information regarding qualification of the applicant, application process, admission result announcement, etc. are as follows :

           

1. General qualification of Applicant
       1.1 Educational Background
             The applicant must hold Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in any fields from an educational institution approved by the Higher Education Committee of the Ministry of Education, Thailand. The qualifications must be in accordance with the program's description.
             The applicant for Plan A Type A1 education must hold Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with good grades, or have at least two year experience in research or professional work relating to the program. He/she must have enough knowledge, skill, and potential to conduct a research project for the thesis. All other required qualifications must be in accordance with the criteria described by the program's administrative committee.
       1.2 The applicant must have never been expelled from an educational system because of misconduct.
       1.3 If the applicant is studying in any program provided at Chiang Mai University or other institution and is accepted to the newly applied for program, he/she will be accepted conditionally while still maintaining eligible status on the current study program. He/she will be an eligible student of the newly applied for program whenever his/her completion of the current program is reported.
       1.4 The applicant who is presented by any office under the Royal Thai Government must get approval from his/her office. The Government must get approval from his/her office. The government office of the applicant must provide priority name list of applicants and required education programs to the Graduate School, Chiang Mai University up toJanuary 30, 2010 The applicant of this category for application, entrance examinations, etc.

2. Purchase of the application form
       2.1 Date of the application form purchase
       - By post : November 11 - December 30, 2009 
       - Direct purchase at the Graduate School : November 11, 2009 - January 31, 2010
       From 08.30 - 15.30 hr. (no lunch break), from Monday - Friday except weekends and national holidays.
       - Duangkamol Book Store (Chiang Mai) : November 11, 2009 - January 22, 2010
       - Chula Book Store (Bangkok) : November 11, 2009 - January 8, 2010
       2.2 Price of application form and handbook
       - Purchased directly at the Graduate School: 100 baht.
       - Purchase via post-office: 150 baht. (by order of the Graduate School).
       2.3 Purchase via post-office
       2.3.1 Send the postal money order to :Mrs. Venar Pimsarn, the Graduate School Chiang Mai University Post Office, 50200 or Transfer money through "Siam Commercial Bank, CMU branch,account no.667-3-00622-9 to The Graduate School CMU". There is a 20 Baht fee for the transfer procedure. The transfer process can be done form November 11 - December 30, 2009 The pay-in slip with the request must be sent to :
       Dean of the Graduate School
       The Graduate School, Chiang Mai University Mueang District Chiang Mai 50200
       The purchaser must put "Application form purchase" corner of the envelope and write the clearly return address.
       2.3.2 If the sent money is insufficient, the Graduate School will return the money without the required materials

3. Application's Schedule
       - Application via post-office : November 11 - December 30 , 2009 
       - Internet application : November 11, 2009 - January 20, 2010
       - Walk-in application at the Graduate School: January 23 - 31, 2010
       From 08.30 a.m. – 03.30 p.m. (no lunch break) Monday - Friday (except weekend and national holidays).
       3.1 Application via post officeThe applicant must submit the completed application form with attached photo, required evidence documents, and the 300 Baht application fee.
       To pay the fee, the applicant must send the money order to : Mrs. Venar Pimsarn, the Graduate School Chiang Mai University Post Office, 50200 or pay by transferring money to : Siam Commercial Bank, CMU branch, account no.667-3-00622-9 to The Graduate School CMU.è 20 Baht fee for the transfer procedure. After the transfer procedure, the applicant must mail the pay-in slip with all application evidence documents to :

       All documents must be sent to the Graduate School no later than December 30, 2009 (as date-stamped by the post office).In case of incompleteness of fee, evidence documents, and application forms, the Graduate School will notify the applicant and expect that all requirements will be sent to the Graduate School no later than December 28, 2008. Failure to comply will result in failure of process and there will be no return of documents and fee.
       3.2 Internet application at http://www.grad.cmu.ac.th or www.gradcmu.com The applicant must adhere to the instructions on the website. The application will be completed when the Graduate School has received all evidence documents and the application fee of 350 baht. The receipt will be mailed to the applicant.
               Internet application can be paid by transferring money to : Siam Commercial Bank, CMU branch, account no.667-3-00622-9 to The Graduate School CMU There is a 20 Baht for the transfer procedure. After the transfer procedure, the applicant must mail the pay-in slip with the all application evidence documents.
          3.3 Walk-in Application The applicant can submit all required documents by him/herself of a representative. The application fee is 250 Baht. This application process will be conducted at the Graduate School Building during the dates mentioned on the timetable. If document submission is done by other than the applicant, the applicant must ensure the completeness of the application form, with attached photo and signatures.
                 The applicant can apply via online system at the Graduate School. The applicant can also record his/her data by oneself without writing application form. He/She must prepare for application documents and 350 baht fee. 
          3.4 The applicant who wishes to apply for more than one program must check date and time of the examination. The date/time of the examinations should not clash, and the programs should not be one which is prohibited in the application. The applicant must separate application forms and application document for each program (not sharing).

4. Application documents
       4.1 Two copies of completed application form
       4.2 Four recent personal passport's photographs type 4x1 inch (taken within six months), without a hat or glasses. The applicant must glue a photo on the application form before submit.
       4.3 Two copies of the document certifying name or surname change or marriage registration (females only), in case name or surname is different on other documents.

 

        4.4 Educational Document For Master's Degree / Graduate Diploma The applicant with Bachelor's Degree must submit:
       - Two copies of official transcript of Bachelor's Degree with the grad point average (GPA).

        The applicant who studied in the last semester, academic year 2009, must submit:  Two copies of official transcript of Bachelor's Degree, last semester.

        4.5 A copy of English test results obtained within last two years, such as TOEFL, IELTS, TEGS, others (if any).
        4.6 Two copies of House Registration Certificate
        4.7 Two copies of Identification card or ID card of government officer

5. Application Form screening
        5.1 The applicant must carefully review or check all filled-out information including required document before submit to the officer of the Graduate School, CMU for processing.
        5.2 If the applicant submits incomplete or incorrecte application documents and fee, the Graduate School will not approve application
        5.3 The applicant must be responsible for checking all information required for the application such as name of the program, study plan, etc. The Graduate School will not take any responsibility if any incorrect information provided by the applicant.
       5.4 The applicant who has paid the application fee and received a receipt from the Graduate School is eligible to take the entrance examination. If the applicant wants to cancel the application after receiving the receipt from the Graduate School, there will be no money refund.     

6. Date of examination
       Qualified applicants must take the examination in date, time and place announced by the Graduate School. The date and place of the entrance examination is available on the Graduate Education Admission Announcement for 1 Semester, academic Year 2010 
       On the date of examination, the applicant can use the receipt includes Identity card or the other document issued by the government for taking the examination.

7. Date of Admission result announcement
       Chiang Mai University will announce the name of approved candidates for further studying in all program of Doctoral Degree, Master's Degree, Graduate Diploma and High Graduate Diploma in the 1 semester, Academic Year 2010 on March 3, 2010 at the Graduate School Chiang Mai University, all departments of CMU and www.grad.cmu.ac.th or www.gradcmu.com
       The Graduate School will provide information the admission result to all qualified applicants. The qualified candidates will receive an official letter of acceptance from the Graduate School.      

8. English Test
       The applicant who wants to be attend the test of English for Graduate Studies (TEGS) can request more information from Language Institute, Chiang Mai University, telephone number 053-943751-4, email address: licmu@chiangmai.ac.th . The English test applicant can take the test at the date arranged by the Language Institute.

9. Confirmation to be graduate student
       The qualified candidate for further study in the programs of Doctoral Degree, Master's Degree and Graduate Diploma in first semester, Academic Year 2010, must confirm his/her right as a graduate student at the identified date. Those who do not comply with the date will be judged to have disclaimed.     

For those who have already graduate
       The confirmation procedure requires evidence documents as mandated by the university regulations. The qualified candidate must submit all documents at the date and time specified in the university announcement. If application evidence is incompleted, the university will not offer confirmation.
       For those who are studying in the last semester, Academic Year 2009
       If the qualified candidate cannot graduate on the day of the confirmation, he/she will be allowed complete confirmation conditionally. The confirmation procedure will be completed when that person finishes his/her recent education and submits evidence of his/her graduation to the university.
       ** The person who qualifies for candidate more than one program must select to confirm the right to be a graduate student in only one program.
       Evidence documents for the confirmation
       9.1 An original completed official transcript of Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree, issued by the university where the candidate took the education.
       9.2 The qualified candidate, who graduates in the same year as that of his/her application for graduate study, must submit 2 copies of an original completed official transcript of Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree, issued by the university where the candidate took the education.
       If the university cannot issue the official transcript on the day of confirmation, the candidate can submit a student's graduation certificate issued by his/her department. When the official transcript is issued, he/she must immediately submit it to the confirmation staff
       9.3 A recent personal passport type 4x1 inch photograph, not wearing a hat or glasses (taken within 6 months).
       9.4 Two copies of House Certificate
       9.5 AA copy of a Medical Certificate
       9.6 An approval document of work absence by the authority, in case of a government official who wants to be a full time student in a regular program.
       The fee that a student must pay for on the confirmation date, as follows:

1. Tuition Fee for the 1st semester   =   40,000 baht

        Some programs may require payment above that specified above. The qualified candidate must pay in according with the program's specification.
